Finn Allen, Adam Milne ruled out of Pakistan Tour

New Zealand’s opening batter Finn Allen and fast bowler Adam Milne have both been ruled out of the forthcoming tour of Pakistan, New Zealand Cricket confirmed on Friday (April 12). While Milne injured his ankle during a training session, Allen suffered a back injury.

"The nature of their respective injuries meant they wouldn't be able to take part in any of the five match series, due to start next week in Rawalpindi," NZC said via a statement “Plans for their return to cricket will be confirmed in the coming weeks."

New Zealand have called in wicket keeper batter Tom Blundell and uncapped all rounder Zak Foulkes as replacements. The Black Caps have already named a second string squad for the series with most of their first choice players preoccupied in the Indian T20 League. Blundell hasn’t been part of NZ’s T20I setup for almost two years whereas Foulkes has been rewarded with a maiden call up.

"Tom is a highly experienced player and along with his wicket keeping and batting skill sets is a leader in any group he is a part of," Head Coach Gary Stead said. "He also brings recent experience in the conditions, having taken part in both tours to Pakistan last year. Zak has had an impressive season for Canterbury including being their leading wicket taker in all three competitions. He has displayed impressive skills with the ball, particularly in T20 cricket for the Kings. We also know he has skills with the bat and it will be an excellent opportunity for him to be part of the group."

The series which will also see the return of all rounder Micheal Bracewell, commences on April 18 with the final T20I scheduled to be held on April 27.
