'It will be tough to stop India...': Ex-India Captain Sourav Ganguly ahead of World Cup final against Australia

Ex-Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly applauded Rohit Shama and Co. ahead of the World Cup ODI 2023 Final against Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

While addressing the press after the Australia versus South Africa semi-final match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the former Indian Cricket Board President expressed his affection for the ‘Men in Blue’ by referring to them as ‘looking smashing’.

Dada conveyed his best wishes for the team for the final game and will be looking forward to Rohit Sharma and his side completing the task that he failed, back in 2003.

"India is looking smashing at the moment. I wish them all the best for Ahmedabad. India have played very well in the tournament, and just one match and Australia stand between them and the World Cup trophy. If India continues to play like how they have performed in the tournament so far, then it will be tough to stop them. It will be a good match as Australia has a good team as well," Ganguly stated.

India despite facing a bit of a rough patch during the semi-final match with New Zealand, managed to secure a big win riding on the backs of Virat Kohli’s 50th ODI ton, Shreyas Iyer’s fast-pace century and Mohammed Shami’s impactful 7 wicket haul.

Australia after losing their first two matches, made a fantastic comeback to win the rest of the games. This is why they are the five-time champions in this format and winning over them would not be easy even for the formidable Indian side.

In the second semi-final at the Iconic Eden Gardens, Australia clinched a three-wicket victory in a low-scoring thriller against the Proteas to lay their path towards the grand stage. Sunday’s match will be one of the greatest sports shows on earth as the cricketing world awaits the clash between the ‘Men in Blue’ and the mighty Aussies.
