Al Nassr suffered a 0-1 defeat against Al Ain in the QF of the AFC Championship

The 39-year-old ace striker Cristiano Ronaldo might be facing dark clouds of failing to win a major trophy in the 2023/2024 season. The situation is quite difficult, Al Nassr is still chasing Al Hilal in the Saudi Arabia Pro League. Their progress in the Asian Champions League is also not convincing enough.

Playing in the Saudi Arabian League doesn't necessarily make things easier for 5-time Balon d’Or winner. The Portugese talisman words have proven to be true, the Saudi Pro League offers tough competition at the top, and winning is not that easy. This season is Ronaldo's second season in Saudi and his first full season. In the 2022/2023 season, he only joined in January when half of the season was already underway.

Well, last season Ronaldo had to bite his fingers and failed to win. The yellow submarine finished as runners-up with 67 points, losing to Al Ittihad who became champions with 72 points. Unfortunately, a similar scenario may repeat this season as well. Ronaldo could end the season without a major trophy currently, after 22 league matches, Al Nassr is still stuck in second place in the 2023/2024 Saudi Arabian League standings and they have only 53 points.

Considering the points table it shouldn't be so bad and the problem is, that Al Hilal who is performing extraordinarily is currently leading the standings with 62 points. Al Hilal has not lost and remained invincible so far in the league with 12 games left until the end of the season, but the situation is quite difficult for Al Nassr. They are 9 points behind and have to hope that Al Hilal slips up while making sure they continue to get three points.

Ronaldo-led Al Nassr also experienced a difficult situation in the 2023/2024 Asian Champions League. They managed to advance to the quarter-finals, which was quite good and the draw results brought Al Nassr to face Al Ain, the United Arab Emirates team. Unfortunately, Al Nassr lost the first-leg duel at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium, on Monday(04th March 2024). Ronaldo couldn't do much and his side faced a 0-1 defeat. Indeed, there is still a chance in the second leg, but the situation is not necessarily easy for Al Nassr and they might be KO of the competition.

If Ronaldo fails in the league and the Asian Champions League, he will be fasting for a major trophy this season. This is a rare case considering that the Portuguese ace striker has always been a regular champion from season to season. Luckily, Al Nassr is still competing in Saudi Arabia's King's Cup and they managed to advance to the semifinals and are still waiting for the match schedule.

The worst scenario for Ronaldo this season is to only win one minor trophy, even if that is not easy.
