Ashwin regains the top spot, Kohli makes significant gain in the ranking
Ashwin claims his position at the top and Virat Kohli moves to 13th in the ranking
Following India versus Australia BGT test series, the International Cricket Board has released its weekly ranking for this Wednesday as well. Prolific batters like Kohli, Williamson, Root and others gained massive points in the latest test ranking.
India's top-pillar batter Virat Kohli has made a tremendous jump in the latest test ranking as of 15th March, 34-year-old Kohli played scintillating innings of 186 runs in the fourth and final BGT test match in Ahmedabad. His heroic inning helped the former number-one test batter to gain 54 ratings. Now Kohli has jumped eight places from the 21st position. Now Kohli has 705 rating points and he stands in 13th place in the test ranking. However, he has still not been able to make it to the top 10.
India has only two batters in the top 10 in the rankings for Test ranking at the moment. Pant is still occupying the number nine spot, while Rohit Sharma has reached number 10. But the interesting thing is that Rishabh Pant has not played any match of this BGT test series due to injury and the skipper of the side Rohit Sharma who has played all matches somehow still fails to overtake Rishabh Pant in the latest test rankings.
The wicket-keeper batter Pant is now at number nine with a loss of one place and Rohit Sharma has gained one place, and he moved to 10 in the table. In the first match of the series, Rohit Sharma played hard-working innings of 120 runs on rank turner on red soil first test match, following this inning he failed to convert his next few 30s into the big ones.
On the other hand, Aussie batter Marnus Labuschagne still stays on the top of the chart with his rating is 915, while Steve Smith at number 2 with 872 ratings, who was also handling the command of the team in two matches and under his captaincy the side won one match and one draws one out of four BGT test matches.
English gun batter Joe Root continues to occupy the number three position, has a rating of 871 and Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, who has a rating of 862, is at number four. Aussie left-handed batter Travis Head is in the top 5 i.e. at number five, his rating is 853 after his preserving 90 off 163 balls in the second innings of the 4th test match.
On the other hand, if we talk about the bowlers, India veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin grabbed sole possession of the top spot in the latest test bowler's ranking. Now he has got 10 points lead over James Anderson who was earlier in the first place before Ashwin dethrones him at the top.
Ashwin's rating has gone up to 869 in the latest test ranking, while James Anderson's rating with 859 in second place. While Ravindra Jadeja is more firmly entrenched in the number one position in the ratings of all-rounders. His rating has gone up to 431 and Ashwin is at number two with a rating of 359.
