Bad light and rain interrupted Day 1 of the third test between AUS and SA

 

The third and final match of the three-match test series between Australia and South Africa is being played in Sydney. At the end of the first day's play, The hosts had scored 147 runs for 2 wickets. For Australia, Usman Khajawa and Marnus Labuschagne played half-century innings.

While the last match's start performer David Warner failed to dominate in the first innings of the third test match against the Proteas. He departed after scoring 10 runs. South Africa's fast bowler Nortje was the most successful on the first day as he claimed two wickets. Australia's team is ahead 2-0 in the current 3-match test series.

In the ongoing test match against South Africa, Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. The Hosts did not get a good start and their first wicket collapsed for 12 runs. The left-handed opening batter David Warner, who came to start the innings, got out after scoring 10 runs. After this, Usman Khawaja and the number one test batter Labuschagne shared a 135-run partnership for the second wicket to recover the team from the initial setback. Labuschagne got out after scoring 79 runs. Usman Khawaja remained unbeaten on 54 runs till the end of the day's play.

On the first day of the Sydney Test, rain and bad weather spoiled the fun of the match. After the dismissal of Labuschagne, the match had to be stopped due to bad lights. Later on, rain interrupted the match. Due to rain and bad weather, only 47 overs could be played on the first day. 

On the other hand, if we talk about the Test series, Australia is currently ahead 2-0 in the series. In the first Test that was played in Brisbane, Australia defeated South Africa by 6 wickets. At the same time, in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, the hosts defeated the Proteas by innings and 182 runs. If Pat Cummins' side wins the ongoing test match, then Australia will qualify for the final of the World Test Championship 2023.
