Australian T20 League 2022

Final: SCO vs HEA

Preview

Scorchers (SCO) will eye their fifth Aus T20 League title when they take the field against Heat (HEA) on Saturday, February 4 at the Perth Stadium. The reigning champions topped the group stage round with 11 wins from 14 games and defeated Sixers in the first Qualifier game by seven wickets to book a final spot. David Payne took a three-fer to restrict SIX’s potent batting lineup to 151/8. Subsequently Bancroft smashed an unbeaten 53 to help SCO register a comfortable win with 9 balls remaining.

Heat finished the group stage round in fifth place with only six wins from their 14 fixtures. But they defeated Thunder in the Eliminator game, Renegades in the knockout, and Sixers in the challenger to reach the grand finale. Spencer Johnson and Matthew Kuhneman picked three wicket apiece to restrict the Sixers to a partly total of 116/9 and then Neser scored an unbeaten 48 to book a meeting with Scorchers in the finals.

Hot Fantasy Picks

(i) Wicket Keeper

Josh Inglis: The wicket keeper batter has struggled off late but has amassed 405 runs in 14 innings. We back him to do well in this game.

(ii) Batters

Steve Eskinazi: The southpaw has been a revelation for the SCO at the top of the order. He alongside Bancroft has clicked for the Perth based franchise.

Cameron Bancroft: The right handed batter is coming into this match on the back of an unbeaten 53. He is a must pick for the epic final clash

(iii) All Rounders

Micheal Neser: With 26 wickets in 16 matches, Neser is currently the second leading wicket taker in the competition. He also adds immense value to this Heat side with his batting heroics down the order.

Aaron Hardie: The ploy to send Hardie at number 3 has worked like a charm for the reigning champions. He has scored 443 runs in 14 innings at an impressive average of 44.30 and is the second highest run scorer in the competition.

(iv) Bowlers

Andrew Tye: The veteran has picked 25 wickets in 15 matches and is amongst the leading wicket takers in the competition. He can use the Perth conditions to his advantage and topple the opposition batters with his deceptive pace variations.

Match Prediction

Both sides are playing some good cricket at the moment. While the Scorchers have been consistent right throughout the tournament, Heat have had a start stop season thus far. SCO are familiar with the playing conditions and possess a relatively stronger side. Hence, we predict them to win this encounter.
