Bayern is crushing their competition in the Bundesliga

Bayern Munich is a top German club and also one of the best in Europe. Bayern Munich has won a total of 80 trophies. These trophies include 31 Bundesliga titles, 3 Champions League titles, 3 European Champions Club Cup, 20 German Cup titles, and many more. The number of trophies won by Bayern is more than the trophies won by the combined other 17 clubs of the League.

The dominance of the club at the country level and the international level is very significant. Bayern’s 2019-2020 season under Hansi Flick is regarded as one of the best in the history of football. Flick successfully guided Bayern to win the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and UEFA Champions League, thus completing the treble for the second time in the club’s history. He was named German Football Manager of the Year by sports magazine kicker and also won the UEFA Men’s Coach of the Year Award. The following season, he led Bayern to win the 2020 UEFA Super Cup against Sevilla. He also led Bayern to win its first-ever sextuple after winning Club World Cup in February 2021 by defeating Mexican team Tigres.

Hansi Flick and Bayern Munich decided to part ways earlier this year. The German coach took a new challenge and was appointed as the head coach of the Die Mannschaft. He was replaced by Julian Nagelsmann on 27 April 2021 as head coach on a five-year deal, effective from 1 July 2021, for a world record managerial transfer fee of €25 Million.

Seeing this record signing of a manager, many eyebrows were raised in world football. Bayern not only signed a manager for a world record fee, but they also took away a coach who led a newly promoted team (Leipzig) and helped them finish as runners-up in the German League. This move in-itself was a statement that how powerful and financially capable Bayern was.

They also got Leipzig’s Defender Dayot Upamecano and the cog of the team Marcel Sabitzer. This is not the 1st time Bayern has bought players from a former German club. Bayern has been doing it ever since the start of Bundesliga. Few of the famous and controversial transfers have been from Bayern’s arch-rival Borussia Dortmund. The Munich club got his hands on Robert Lewandowski in 2014 that also on a free transfer. Since then Lewandowski has been firing goals for the club and has become one of the most prolific strikers in the world. Mats Hummels and Mario Gotze are 2 other examples of the same saga but both of them didn’t enjoy as much success as the Polish striker. Leon Goretzka from Schalke and Niklas Sule from Hoffenheim are some other transfers who settled well for the Munich club.

What do all these transfers tell? It tells a story of how money can buy almost any player and is capable of destroying other clubs or competitions in the league. Bayern can easily afford any player from any German club by paying the release clause and the club won’t have much of an option but to sell the player to the Reds. This makes Bayern an absolute monster in the German league which is good for them but not at all for the level of football in the league.
