Casemiro insists Manchester United to observe their arch-rivals' blueprint after 3-1 derby loss

Manchester United midfielder and ex-Real Madrid legend Casemiro urges the Red Devils to follow in Manchester City’s footsteps to succeed. 

Bruno Fernandes and Co. failed to make an impact during their 3-1 loss to Pep Guardiol’s side on Sunday (March 3). Despite early efforts from Marcus Rashford’s early strike (8 mins), the hosts dominated the later half of the game and netted thrice after the half time ((56', 80', 91').

While talking about matching the levels of Manchester City, the Brazilian midfielder said in the post-match conference:

“That is the big objective, we also have to be humble to accept that they are at the moment, not in history, as the history of Manchester United speaks for itself, but they are today the team to beat. Everyone wants to beat City. We have a mirror here, which is City, and they have been doing a great job."

During the last decade, Man City have triumphed in six Premier League titles and one Champions  League trophy among several other notable honours. The Red Devils in the meantime grouped the FA Cup (2016), and Europa League (2017) during this time. 

Regarding the game, Casemiro expressed: 

"We started well. We know that City likes to have control of the game, but we were always comfortable. Of course, when they press you, they always create opportunities, but we also had some opportunities to make counterattacks. It ended up that We went back to the 2nd half and conceded the goal very early."

Sunday night’s game was one-sidedly dominated by the “Men in Blue” who took away 73% possession and shot 27 times compared to United’s only three,  

On the matchday, Manchester City dominated possession (73%), took 27 shots compared to Manchester United's three, and tested Andre Onana eight times.
