Champions Trophy 2025 To Be Held Outside Pakistan: Reports

One of the most crucial International cricket events, the Champions Trophy, an 8-team tournament which will take place in 2025 is reportedly moved out of Pakistan, who were the designated host of the tournament. The Asian giants were the champions of the prestigious event in 2017 and were set to host the mega event at home after a long time.

However, with rising tensions between India and Pakistan, the Men in Blue would not be travelling to Pakistan as their stance remains the same as during the Asia Cup. So, it is clear that the tournament will be hosted in Dubai or will have a similar hybrid model just like the Asia Cup 2023.

There were speculations regarding Pakistan hosting the 2025 Champions Trophy after the Indian apex council for Cricket refused any chance for the Indian Cricket Team to play in Pakistan during the Asia Cup. However as the event comes under the Aisan Cricket Board, India managed to get over the issue as the board proposed a hybrid model with Pakistan and Sri Lanka as the hosts. Now it is to see that, can India do the same thing with the International Cricket Board in an event which hosts the top 8 cricketing countries.

The United Arab Emirates has always been an alternate shelter for Pakistan to organise tournaments and series. Many editions of the Pakistan T20 League and their senior men’s team bilateral series were held here. So this is one of the most feasible options for the side at this moment. This will be the 9th season of the Champions Trophy and the first one after a long wait of 8 years. India and Australia have won the event twice while Pakistan, South Africa, West Indies and New Zealand have got their hands on the title once.
