PSG draw with Club Brugge in an exciting Champions League match

Club Brugge locked horns with PSG at the Jan Breydel Stadium on Wednesday evening. It was a very special night for PSG and an Argentinean forward Lionel Messi as he wore a new team’s jersey for the first time in the Champions League match. PSG fans were extremely excited to see the front 3 of Mbappe, Neymar, and Messi start together in a European match.

Club Brugge played a 3 defender formation with De Ketelaere and Lang as their front 2. PSG on the other hand played a 4-3-3 formation with Mbappe up top as their no. 9. Sergio Ramos was mysteriously missing from the Paris squad.

PSG started the game with accurate passing and good buildup play. The buildup got them the reward very early in the match. In the 15th minute of the match, Diallo made a fine long pass on the left flank where he found Mbappe unmarked. The Frenchman then controls the ball with a fine touch, dribbles past a couple of defenders, and produces an excellent ball for Herrera in the box. The Spanish midfielder makes no mistake and shoots the ball on his first touch and scores for the club. PSG took the lead within 15 minutes of the game. Club Brugge 0 -1 PSG

PSG’S lead though didn't last for long. In the 25th minute Club Brugge also scored a very similar goal as they worked it on the left flank, and Sobol finds space and passes the ball to Vanakan who makes a first touch finish which is deflected by Kimpembe but luckily the ball finds the net. Club Brugge 1-1 PSG PSG was devastated as the goal came from absolutely nowhere.

The Parisians in response attacked more aggressively as Messi almost scored a peach of a goal from outside the box but was unlucky as the ball hit the bar and was later kicked away by The Belgian defender.

Club Brugge kept on attacking after Messi’s shot. 2 great shots from Vanaken and De Ketelaere were saved by Navas which kept PSG in the game. The game ended in a draw. Much was expected of this PSG squad but most of the viewers and fans were disappointed with their performance. Pochettino should make certain tactical changes such that these players can give their best on the field. Otherwise, the story for Paris will remain the same as it has been for the past couple of years. The best players of the world in a single club still have no Champions League.
