Ronaldo rescues a point for clueless United against Chelsea!

Manchester United, a team that aims to play Champions League football next season is playing like a 2nd division team these days. Even after having some quality players in their team, United looks so poor and Erik Ten Hag has nothing to look forward to. The team needs a massive transformation and the new manager will have a lot on his plate from the first day at Manchester.

Chelsea dominated the entire match and United should feel lucky that they didn’t concede more than one. Off the ball the team looked very pathetic and looked directionless and Chelsea took full advantage of that. The defenders were put in a tight spot and they did reasonably well and De Gea once again stood up and showed his calibre. Bruno was supposed to flourish with Ronaldo up front but the opposite happened and the Portuguese needs to improve if he wants to create his legacy at Manchester United.

Coming to the match, Chelsea dominated the possession right from the start and despite some desperation in the early minutes; United didn’t take much time to take a back foot. Attack after attack was launched at United but Chelsea didn’t get the goal in the first half. United too got a chance where Bruno could have taken a shot but he passed to Ronaldo and he failed to convert it from a tight angle.

Marcos Alonso gave Chelsea the lead in the 2nd half. Kai Havertz’s cross was brilliantly volleyed by the Spaniard to give Chelsea the lead. United didn’t take any time to reply as Cristiano Ronaldo once again rescued the Red Devils from another crunching defeat.

When Chelsea introduced players like Lukaku and Pulisic, United introduced Phil Jones and Juan Mata. This speaks of United’s squad depth and how much they need to change to get better next season. The match may have ended 1-1 but Chelsea could have easily won the match if not because of De Gea. It is only him and Cristiano who’s showing up every single game week and making a difference.

With this draw, United’s dream of qualifying for the Champions League is almost over. If they don’t improve, they may as well have to play in the Conference League. Transfer window will as well be a tough one as no top player would want to join a team that plays on Thursday. A tough time awaits for United at Carrington.
