Comeback Kings Real Madrid stuns City to book a place in UCL Finals
‘Un’Real Madrid does UNREAL things to qualify for UCL Finals!
If you are a die-hard fan of Real Madrid, last night was a dream. A dream that no one thought could come true. Some of the fans left the stadium before the full-time whistle and we feel sorry for them who thought it’s over for Madrid and left Santiago Bernabeu early. You can never count Real Madrid out until the final whistle. What happened last night should be written in the books and young players and coaches should see and learn that no game is over until it’s over.
The first half ended all square with Manchester City leading the tie 4-3. There were a couple of controversies and some believed Madrid midfielder Casemiro should have been given the marching order after a harsh tackle while others are okay with that. Whatever the case might be, Real Madrid was very lucky that they were not playing with 10-men. Other than that, both the teams missed some good chances and the stage was set for a dramatic second half.
It started just like that. Vinicius missed a sitter in the start of the second half and whatever Madrid tried was just not coming off. On top of that, Riyad Mahrez’s belter in the 73rd minute gave City a two goal advantage and fans were disappointed and some even believed that the dream was over! But boy-o-boy, never ever, ever count Real Madrid out.
Rodrigo’s two late goals in the 90th and in the 91st stunned Manchester City as the goals came out of nowhere. City players saw everything go down from there as Karim Benzema won and converted a penalty in the 95th minute to kill City’s dream of lifting the European Cup – A trophy that they crave to win so much but fails to deliver at some crucial junctures. A few minutes of madness from the Kings of Europe saw fans in Bernabeu crying, celebrating and most importantly, believing that anything and everything is possible for Real Madrid.
On the other hand, Pep Guardiola will have to go back to the drawing board and figure out where everything went wrong. The dream of playing the Champions League final against his long time rival Jurgen Klopp was snatched and Pep Guardiola, without any doubt will face a lot of backlash for not winning the Champions League for another year.
It’s important to mention the contribution of Thibaut Courtois in this entire journey. He made two decisive saves in this match as well and that helped Madrid qualify for the finals of Champions League for the 17th time. The team will face Liverpool on 29th May at Paris and Mohammed Salah, the Liverpool talisman has already posted a picture of the team saying, “We have a score to settle”, referring to the fact when Real Madrid defeated the Reds in the finals of Champions League in 2018.
To sum up, there’s nothing we can say that we haven’t said already. If you are a Real Madrid fan, go to YouTube or Spotify and listen to your club anthem and if you are city fan, pray that Haaland joins your team and if you are a neutral fan, learn the fact that anyone can do anything and never count Real Madrid out!
