Ronaldo’s brace helped United beat Arsenal in Carrick’s last match

It was a very crucial game for the red devils as United were 10th in the table when the match started against Arsenal. The starting was not that great as Michael Arteta’s team dominated the play and even got the goal in the 13th minute of the match. Fred’s challenge on De Gea injured him and Emile Smith Rowe had an open net in front of him to convert and the youngster did exactly what he was expected to do.

Post that goal, things shaped really well as United countered to get the goal but wasn’t taking any advantage of the attacks. Fred, as usual, was losing too many balls in the middle which helped Arsenal build pressure but the defense looked ready for any challenge. Just before the half-time whistle Bruno pulled one back from Fred’s assist and United locked level at the break.

Post break it was the Cristiano Ronaldo show. At this age, you won’t expect too much from him other than the crucial goals and the Portuguese did exactly that. A brilliant counter attack helped United score their second and Ronaldo got his 800th career goal at Old Trafford, the Theatre of Dreams.

Arsenal responded well and just 45 seconds after Ronaldo’s goal, the teams were once again locked level after Odegaard’s perfect placement helped Gunners make it 2-2 in the 54th minute. The story continued as Fred was brought down in the box in the 68th minute mark and after consulting with VAR, the referee decided to give the penalty and with that Cristiano scored a brace as United won the match 3-2.

Michael Carrick has coached his last match as the interim boss as Ralf Rangwick will be taking over from the next match. United is scheduled to face Crystal Palace in two days' time. Ralf will be in the dugout and don’t be too surprised if you see certain changes in the team and changes in the playing style. After all, the German is famous for his Gegenpressing.
