German club is holding advanced talks with the Red Devils to sign Donny van de Beek on loan

Eintracht Frankfurt is reportedly optimistic that it will recruit Manchester United's lacking Dutchman, Donny van de Beek, in the transfer market next January. The German hero wants to try to save the player's career. The midfielder almost walked out the door at Old Trafford last summer after talks with Real Sociedad over a loan move, but the move fell through and he remained for the first half of the 2023/24 season. The 26-year-old has made just 62 appearances since his move in 2020, unable to convince Ole Gunnar Solskjaer or Erik ten Hag that he deserves a place in the first team.

Van de Beek has made just one EPL appearance so far this season, coming off the bench in the home defeat to Crystal Palace in September. Not long ago, Frankfurt attempted to bring in Van de Beek with a loan option and hoped this would benefit them, with several other teams also interested in the player.

Real Sociedad is reportedly still interested in recruiting him even though previous talks failed, as are La Liga leaders Girona who are continuing to monitor Van de Beek's situation. The latest reports say that Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmoller is increasingly confident of getting his signature. Talks between Van de Beek and Frankfurt's representatives are ongoing and it is thought his agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, has strong ties with the club.

It is believed that the Bundesliga club will sign Van de Beek on loan until the end of the season, although it is not yet clear whether a purchase option will be included. Van de Beek's contract with Man United will run until 2025, but the club would be happy to do a deal to sell him permanently in the summer of 2024. The Red Devils spent £40m on his services in 2020 and will only be able to recoup a fraction of that next summer, although if he impresses on a loan deal in the second half of the season then his sale value could increase.

"I have to start playing immediately [if not at Man United] then at another club. I think I have to be ambitious. The 26-year-old also added that "he is always been a lover of this sport, I'm crazy about football." I earn a good living at United, but money is not my motivation. I want to enjoy my work every day."
