Italy and Portugal, only one or neither will be a part of 2022 Qatar Championship

The last two European Champions, Portugal and Italy will have to go through a qualifying round in order to book their place in the next big tournament. Italy will be facing North Macedonia while Portugal will be competing against Turkey. The winner of both these contests will face each other in the final match and the winner of that match will be playing the World Championship in Qatar next year.

Italy, who took the Euros by storm this year, wasn’t part of the Russia World Championship in 2018. They were also knocked out from the group stage in the year 2014. Thus, after winning the Euros when everything was looking like in Italy’s favour, this happened and now the Azzurri's will have a difficult journey to qualify for Qatar.

Portugal is one of the best teams in world football right now. They were never like that and always had a couple of good players but in recent times, their football developed and the team is not the one that should be playing the qualifiers. This could be Cristiano Ronaldo’s last World Championship and the Portuguese will be all charged up to get the job done and qualify for the tournament.

In other qualifications, Scotland will challenge Ukraine and Wales will be challenging Austria. The winner of these two matches will face each other and the winner will be qualified for the tournament. In other matches, Russia will host Poland and Sweden will do the same against Czech Republic and the same process follows.

A total of 13 teams will be qualifying from Europe. According to information available, the official draw for the World Championship will be happening on 1st April at Doha.
