England clean sweeps Pakistan at home by 3-0 in test series

England defeated Pakistan by eight wickets in the Karachi Test and captured the three-match Test series 3-0. This is the first time a team has defeated Pakistan by a clean sweep in a Test series in its backyard. After the end of this series, there have been important changes in the Test Championship points table. With this loss, Pakistan's team now has slipped to the 7th spot in the table tally of the test Championship 2021-23 whereas Australia stays at the top of the table with 120 points and India is in second place with 87 points.

Batting first after winning the toss, Pakistan scored 304 runs in the first innings. In response, the England cricket team scored 354 runs thanks to a century by Harry Brook (111), giving the team a 50-run lead based on the first innings. In the second innings, Pakistan was all out for 216, leaving England a target of 167 runs.

Stokes's side England achieved the target within 28.1 overs by scoring 170 runs with the loss of 2 wickets. Duckett scored 82 not out, and Stokes remained not out on 35 runs. After winning the third Test, England has further strengthened their position in the points table. The team continues to be in the fifth position with 46.97 per cent marks. Out of 22 matches played by the team so far (2021-2023 phase), they have won 10 and lost eight, while four matches have ended in a draw.

On the other hand, the Pakistan cricket team has dropped one place to number seven (12 matches – four wins, six losses, two draws) with 38.89 percentage points. However, it was a huge upset for Pakistani skipper Babar Azam, who also becomes the first Pakistani captain to lose 4 test matches at home in a year. Pakistan will host the New Zealand side for the 2-test matches at home starting from Monday, December 26.
