Eric Dier and Sergio Reguilon – the heroes of Saint James Park

The Premier League fixture between Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspurs will be remembered for a long time. It was a crucial match for Spurs point of view as they were struggling in the points table after a brilliant start to the season.

Newcastle took the lead in the initial minutes after Wilson scored. Spurs didn’t hold back as Ndombele and Harry Kane put past Newcastle twice in a very quick succession. After that, the horror of this year’s Euros once again doomed. A fan at Saint James Park collapsed and CPR was immediately required in order to save his life. The Spurs duo Eric Dier and Sergio Reguilon immediately brought this to the referee's attention and the fan was treated properly. Later in the night, Newcastle United released a statement saying that the fan is now in a stable condition and is responding to the treatment.

Hueng Min Son scored Spurs' third in the first half of the stoppage time while Eric Dier unfortunately scored an own goal towards the end of the match to make it 3-2. Thus, with three more points in their bag, Spurs are now 5th in the table ahead of the likes of Manchester United and West Ham United.

However, no one can forget the heroics of Sergio Reguilon and Eric Dier. The duo was awarded the joint Man of the Match award after saving the life of that man. Spurs leader Harry Kane also expressed his concern and wished for his quick recovery.

Amidst all these, there’s a point that will bother the Magpies. Even after the billion dollar takeover, they are yet to win a game in this season and are in the relegation zone. Their coach Steve Bruce may unfortunately lose his job before the next transfer window as the new owners would like to revamp the club and might for a mid table finish before the end of the season. Already the names of Antonio Conte and Zinedine Zidane are discussed and according to reports, both denied a possible move to Saint James Park. Thus, needless to say that things are a bit complicated at Newcastle. The legendary manager, Steve Bruce made his 1000th appearance as a professional coach against Spurs on Sunday. However, by the looks of it, the boss may just lose his job in the due course if the performance of his team doesn’t improve.
