Erling Haaland to Manchester City - Here we Go!
Erling Haaland graces Manchester City, fulfil's Mino Raiola's last wish!
We tried but we can’t introduce Erling Haaland like Peter Durry will welcome him at the Premier League. The young prodigy from the land of the midnight sun is Manchester bound and Pep Guardiola, the maestro of tactical innovations couldn’t have asked more from his owners at Abu Dhabi. After missing out on Harry Kane last year, the Spaniard will finally have a proper number nine with whom he can dream again - Dream of winning his first UEFA Champions League title outside of Camp Nou. It has been more than a decade since Guardiola felt like the King of Europe and whether the fans in Blue agree or not but it’s now or never for Guardiola at Manchester City.
At 21 years of age, the Norway International has made headlines in every European Country. With his ability to score goals out of nowhere, his skills with the ball in his feet, his runs, movement, his heading ability and what not, Erling Haaland is a future Ballon D’Or holder. Clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and initially Manchester United were behind him but he chose City over Real Madrid (was very close to joining them) because of the project that the Blues were offering.
At such a tender age, Haaland has scored 61 goals in 66 league games for Borussia Dortmund and a total of 92 league goals in 121 appearances for Molde, Red Bull Salzburg and Dortmund. The youngster became the youngster player to score 20 Champions League goals last year and thus, there are so many positives for the Citizens to look forward to. Without a proper number nine, the team couldn’t really play the way they could have or as we saw with Sergio Aguero up front.
Under Pep Guardiola, Haaland is expected to play like a beast. With Kevin De Bruyne, Bernado Silva, Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden to help him, Haaland might break many Premier League records next season. He has the ability to cope up with different situations and that will help him a lot in England. Normally, players coming from Germany don’t really play the kind of football that is expected from them but we believe that Erling Haaland is different. He is the one who can actually help win City their maiden Champions League. Thus, city wasn't shy to spend over 70 million dollars to get him at Etihad and fulfil Mino Raiola's dream to see him at Manchester City.
Former Blackburn Rovers and Celtic striker Chris Sutton while speaking to the BBC reflected his ideas on the transfer by saying, “The expectation will be so great because of what he has achieved so far but he is only 21 and he may take a little while to fit in, but he has all the attributes. The guy is an absolute monster physically - people bounce off him. He is a wonderful finisher for such a tall guy, he has great feet, is good in the air and holds it in well. He will get better and better and in that respect I think he is going to the right club with the right coach”.
