Ex Indian Legend speaks up on Kohli's participation in World Cup
As per reports, there is likely no place for the seasoned batter Virat Kohli in the Team India squad for the World Cup T20 2024.
Reports concern that the Indian Cricket Board and the management have mutually agreed not to consider the Indian legendary batter for the marquee event, The task of conveying the news has been given to the chief selector Ajit Agarkar who is likely to convey it to the ex-Indian skipper.
Ex-Indian spinner and 2007 World Cup winner Harbhajan Singh has come out in support of the star batter, disagreeing with the statement that Kohli has issues in the shortest format of the game.
“Cricket is the most essential thing for Virat. He is also a family man. Virat hasn’t played cricket for a long time, but whenever he returns to the field, we will see old Kohli.
“He would be hoping to lead India to the ICC T20 World Cup title and Royal Challengers Bangalore to IPL success. The entire country is waiting for the World Cup success in June. I want the likes of Virat, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah to bring the cup to India,” he expressed.
The right-handed batsman has been missing the pitch for months now and recently opted out of the five-match Test series against England and hasn’t yet reported for the forthcoming edition of the Indian T20 League.
