Gharam claims Hattrick as AUS W beat IND W by 54 runs, win the series by 4-1

 

Australia won the fifth and final match of the five-match T20 series that was played between India Women and Australia Women. Batting first, the Australian team set a target of 197 runs in front of India. In response, Team India did not have a good start. The left-handed opening batter Smriti Mandhana got out cheaply after scoring just 4 runs. After this India lost three wickets within 50 runs.

Captain Harmanpreet and Richa Ghosh also failed to chase down this huge Aussies target and team India surrendered quite easily against Australian women in the final match of the series. In the end, Deepti Sharma scored a half-century to take India's score to 142 runs that were not enough for the side to win the match.

 

Fall of wickets in Indian innings

 

The opening batter Mandhana returned to the pavilion on the score of four runs. She scored four runs in four balls and became the victim of  Grace Harris. India got a second blow on the score of 24 runs when Shefali Verma got out after scoring 13 runs in 14 balls. She became the victim of Gardner. India's third wicket fell on the score of 47 just after the powerplay in 6.2 overs. Harleen Deol got run out after scoring 24 runs in 16 balls.

In the final match of the series, India decided to bowl first after winning the toss and made a good start by sending Australia's opening pair cheaply to the pavilion within four overs. After this, Australian stand-in captain Tahila played aggressive shots to take the team's score beyond 50 runs. After her dismissal, Ash Gardner and Grace Harris scored runs in a stormy fashion to take Australia's score to 196 for 4 after the 20 overs. McGrath scored 66 and Grace Harris scored 64. There was an unbeaten partnership of 129 runs in 62 balls between these two. Deepti Sharma, Shefali Verma, Devika Vaidya and Anjali Sarwani managed to take one wicket each.

Australia's first wicket fell in the form of Beth Mooney, who departed after scoring two runs in four balls. Anjali Sarwani took her wicket. Deepti gave another blow to Australia when Phoebe Litchfield was stumped by wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh. Phoebe scored 11 runs in nine balls. Tahlia McGrath, who was also got out after scoring 26 runs. Ellyse Perry also could not produce much magic and got out after scoring 18 runs in 14 balls

The team India made a single change in their lineup for this final encounter against Australia. Rajeshwari Gaikwad was given a chance in place of Rodrigues. At the same time, there were two changes in Australia's team. Kim Grath and Phoebe Litchfield were included in the squad in place of Healy and Megan Schutt.
