Hardik Pandya hobbles off the field during ODI game against Bangladesh

India’s prolific all rounder Hardik Pandya was sent for scans after hurting his left ankle while bowling in the match against Bangladesh in Pune on October 19.

He picked up an injury during the 9th over of the match when he tried to stop the ball with his left leg on his follow through. He was seen walking gingerly off the field with the support staff mid-over which was ultimately concluded by Virat Kohli.

The Indian Cricket Board put out an update which read: "Hardik Pandya's injury is being assessed at the moment and he is being taken for scans".

The nature of the injury sustained is yet to be confirmed.

The 30 year old is a vital cog in India’s ODI setup providing the team with the much needed balance with his prowess with both bat and ball in hand. He is also vastly experienced and an excellent reader of the game.

"He's [Hardik] a proper fast bowler, who can crank up good speed. So that gives us an advantage. That gives us that luxury of playing three spinners and three seamers as well you know so there's a possibility that we can play three spinners on this pitch with three seamers as well, so it gives us that balance, [it] gives us that number eight batting option as well," Rohit had stated on October 7 on what Hardik brings to the team.
