Brooks and Gardner crowned as the ‘Player of the Month' for December 2022

England batsman Harry Brooks bagged his first International Cricket Board’s Player of the Month award after a blistering gameplay that assisted his team to fetch a historic World Championship (Test) win in Pakistan.

Also, Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner acquired the prestigious award, as she became the Women’s Player of the Month for her contribution to the team with both the bat and the ball to clinch a series victory against India. Her heroic performance has also made her the No. 1 Women’s All Rounder in the International Cricket Board Rankings.

Both of them were selected for the award following a worldwide vote conducted among the media representatives, former international players, Hall of Famers and fans registered at their website.

Brook was mostly invincible during England’s successful Test win against Pakistan, scoring a ton in each match as the visitors sealed a 3-0 victory.

He played only a single Test match before joining his team in Pakistan, Brook torched up the series with his aggressive gameplay and power-hitting abilities, blending into England’s good old style of play in the longest format of the game.

He started the series in Rawalpindi, hitting 19 fours and five sixes on the way to smashing 153 runs in the first innings, just before hitting another 87 runs in the second innings of the game. This duly ensured Pakistan fell short on a histrionic final day of the match. Following this, he was in a good rhythm which he well demonstrated through his nature of playing. He went on to hit further two more remarkable tons- 108 in Multan Test and 111 in Karachi Test.

On the other side, Australia’s talented all-rounder Gardner received the Player of the Month due to her impressive end to the year 2022. Her December was one to remember as she drafted a total of 115 runs with a strike rate of 166.66, shattering 7 wickets at an average of 18.88 in the tough T20I series win against rivals India.
