IND vs SL: Schedule, Venues, Squad ‘Announced’

Sri Lanka is set to be on a tour to India for a multi-format series. During the visit, an ODI and T20I series will be played between the teams. Both the ODI and the T20I series include three matches each. 

The T20I series will be organised first followed by the One Day International series. During the IND vs SL 2023 series, the T20I games are scheduled on January 3, 5, and 7. The ODIs will start after a two-day break on the following dates, January 10, 12, and 15.

Both sides have announced their squads for the series. Hardik Pandya will lead the team in the T20I series and Rohit Sharma will play the lead role in the ODI series. The Sri Lankan side will be led by Dasun Shanaka for both of the above series.

India previously played an ODI and Test series against Bangladesh in the month of December 2022. During the away series, India played 3 ODIs and 2 Tests with Bangladesh. The visitors lost the ODI series 1-2 which was their first defeat in 7 years against the Bangla Tigers but later made a comeback by winning the Test series by a 2-0 margin. 

Sri Lanka last played an ODI series against Afghanistan in November 2022, the series ended in a 1-1 draw. Afghanistan won the 1st ODI match by 60 runs while Sri Lanka fetched victory in the 3rd ODI by 4 wickets. The 2nd ODI match was affected by rain and hence cancelled.

India and Sri Lanka last clashed in the Asia T20 Championship 2022. During the Super 12 phase, Sri Lanka gave a huge blow to the Men in Blue by defeating them by a 6-wicket margin. This resulted in the disqualification of the Indian side as they failed to reach the Finals. Sri Lanka went on to win the tournament by beating Pakistan in the final, the most underrated team in the tournament.
