Luke Shaw set to be on the sidelines for extended period with muscle injury

Luke Shaw is set to be out of action for an indefinite period after picking up a muscle injury., 

Manchester United are still evaluating the situation and the extent of the injury sustained by the 28 year old. 

The English international played a critical role last season as the Red Devils qualified for the Champions League and clinched the League Cup, operating at both the left back and centre back role, before starting for his side in the opening two games of the new campaign. 

Shaw’s unavailability further depletes United at the back, with Tyrell Malacia also ruled out after missing pre-season with an injury suffered last season.  

Shaw is the recent addition in England’s list of injured players at the back. John Stones and Tyrone Mings are the other two, both of whom are sidelined ahead of their forthcoming European Championship qualifiers. 

England will face Ukraine in matchday 5 of the Euro Qualifiers 2024 on September 9.
