As we head into the business end of the Ind T20 League 2023, things have started to heat up, and teams aren’t just fighting for points but even the net run rate. Hyderabad (HYD) and Lucknow (LUC) will square off in match number 58 of the season at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Saturday, May 13. While  HYD secured a win against RAJ in their last game, LUC were defeated by GUJ  

HYD has a disastrous record at home this season. They have won only once in the five games they have played here. LUC on the other hand has suffered a major injury setback that has disturbed the balance within the squad. With high stakes for both sides, we expect a close contest. 

Aiden Makram and co put up their best show of the season with a last ball win over Rajasthan in the last game. They chased down a mammoth total in the final ball to bag a 4 wicket win. It was a much needed victory for the side, which has struggled with their form and consistency. The skipper would like to use this momentum and win to keep their hopes of making it to the playoffs alive and for that they will have to put an end to their winless streak at home. 

Abhishek Sharma and Anmolpreet Singh performed well in the last game, and the onus will once again be on the pair to give their side a solid start. Rahul Tripathi has been inconsistent in the middle order this season and he will need to bat responsibly to produce favourable outcomes on a consistent basis. Aiden Makram has failed to get going this season. He will look to play an innings of substance and rediscover his groove. Henrich Klassen has flourished in the limited opportunities he has got and he alongside Glen Phillips, Marco Jansen and Abdul Samad will be eager to close off HYD’s innings with late blitz.     

In the bowling department, HYD comprises the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Marco Jansen and Mayank Markande. While Kumar and Jansen shoulder the new ball responsibility, Markande will have the job of containing batters in the middle overs. T. Natrajan will also prove handy during the middle overs phase.

Krunal Pandya’s men have only collected one point from the last three games. With KL Rahul out with an injury, Pandya is at the helm of things. The stand-in skipper is having a torrid time as he is yet to win a game. The return of Quinton de Kock is the only positive thing that has happened to LUC in recent times. De Kock instantly created an impact and scored a 41 ball 70 against GUJ. He shared a 88 run stand with Kyle Mayers for the first wicket. The middle order looks fragile with Deepak Hooda yet to fire. Nicolas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis barring a few games haven’t done enough. Lower order possesses Swapnil Singh and Ayush Badoni, both of whom are capable of hitting the ball cleanly. 

The bowling prowess has the services of Avesh Khan, Yash Thakur, Ravi Bishnoi and Amit Mishra. While the pacers have looked jaded, spinners have done well in patches.
