RAJ will cross swords with DEL at the BArsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Sunday, April 8. The Rajasthan side will come into this encounter riding on the back of a hard-fought defeat against Punjab by only 5 runs. On the other side, Delhi will search for its first win in the Indian T20 League 2023. 

Rajasthan will have to show some consistency in their bowling department, while the Delji batters have to get to the depth of their batting in order to fetch a victory and climb up the order in the points table. 

Rajasthan had a perfect start to their 2023 league campaign against Hyderabad. But in their second game, Rajasthan lost their rhythm in the end overs of the innings and failed to chase the runs which seemed to be possible at a certain point. Their batting performance had been impressive in both games anyways with skipper Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal being the leaders of the side. The management is only worried about the form of Devdutt Padikkal who is struggling to rotate strikes or find boundaries at frequent intervals. 

Rajasthan’s bowling attack has been led by pro players like Ravichandran Ashwin, Jason Holder and Trent Boult. With most of their concerns covered in batting and bowling, Chahal needs to get in his vintage touch and stop throwing away runs. Also, their management needs to take cold decisions regarding their batting order, as in the last game, it was somewhat believed that the order was disturbed and sending out-of-form Devdutt Padikkal ahead of Shimron Hetmyer was a major mistake. 

Delhi on the other hand have struggled in their batting trend in the inaugural games of the Indian T20 League as they lost both of the games with huge score margins. The youth sensations, Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan, who have dominated the domestic tournaments recently, are yet in search of a big score to get a kickstart this season. Axar Patel has been impressive with the bat and bowl but his individual contribution hasn’t been enough for the Delhi side.

The comeback of Anrich Nortje is a major positive for the Delhi squad in their bowling department. Kuldeep Yadav has been in good touch since the beginning of the tournament, in the first match he picked up a wicket and in the second one he has been economical in the crucial stages of the game. It is now important for the side to come together in a unified form and get their individual performances accumulated in a single game to get greater results.

Pitch and Weather Report

The ground at the Barsapara Stadium is perfect to bat on, all thanks to the fair and consistent bounce that it offers. The pitch has been affected by rain here and the moisture on the ground will cause some difficulties for the spinners to get a good turn. Yet, there is a little bit of grass which makes it feasible for the pacers to get shifting but they need to be in extreme control. The side batting first will be trying to get to a total of more than 200 to give some room for the bowlers.

Delhi have lost both their inaugural games, and the reason is their middle-order batters who have been the culprits. They need to contribute to the making of a strong total for the side to challenge the Rajasthan side in this match. Rajasthan have a strong batting line-up that have the capability to bat till No. 8.
