Kolkata will square off against Lucknow in the 28th match of the Indian T20 League encounter on Sunday, April 14 on the auspicious day of ‘Poila Baishakh’ which marks the beginning of the Bengali Calendar year. The game is scheduled to be hosted at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata which will be a feast for the fans out there on the special day. 

Kolkata is presently sitting in the second spot in the points table with three wins in their four matches played so far and on the other side, Lucknow is placed fourth in the points table with three wins in five matches. 

Both sides will look forward to making a comeback as they are on the backs of defeat in their previous encounters. While Shreyas Iyer’s side lost against Chennai by 7 wickets in an away battle, KL Rahul’s Lucknow suffered a home defeat against Delhi by 6 wickets, which also marks their first loss even after scoring 160+ runs in the 1st innings against a team. 

Kolkata started off their campaigns with a power-packed batting order proving in wins over Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Delhi. Their loss against Chennai marked their first loss of the season as they managed to score only 137 runs which Dhoni & boys chased down with ease. 

Lucknow, on the other side, lost their very first match of the season to Rajasthan but made a fabulous comeback with three consecutive wins against Punjab, Gujarat and Bengaluru before their winning streak came to an end when they failed to defend a score of 167 against Rishabh Pant’s Delhi.

The two cities of Nawabs will cross swords for the fourth time in Indian T20 League history. Lucknow has a clear advantage over the two-time champions as they have beaten them in all three previous encounters which includes one meeting at the Edens. 

KL Rahul and Co. has defended the total in all three matches and two of them were extreme thrillers. It seemed like Rahul and De Kock’s record-smashing stand went in vain, but every time Kolkata lost miserably.
