India Women will take on Bangladesh Women in the second T20I at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday at 01:30 PM. Women in Blue have started their limited-overs tour of Bangla Women with a bang after winning the first T20I by 7 wickets on Sunday. Harmanpreet Kaur-led team India outplayed the home side in all departments and looked like the far superior side against the Hosts. BAN-W have their task cut out and would need to lift their game dramatically if they hope to challenge this strong team India. 

The Hosts were let down by their batting once again. Put into bat first under overcast conditions and on a surface that had a tinge of green, The Hosts just couldn’t break free of the stranglehold put on by the Indian bowlers. BAN-W eventually managed to put a below-par 114-5 on the board in 20 Overs. None of the batters got going, with Shorna Akter’s unbeaten 28 off 28 balls being their highest score of the innings for the Hosts.

For the Visitors, Superb bowling efforts from Pooja Vastrakar 1-16 and Deepti Sharma 0-14 in their full quota, combined with a quick-fire fifty from the skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (54* off 35 balls), propelled IND-W to a comfortable seven-wicket victory in the first T20I against the Hosts Women. IND-W bowling was miserly. Everyone bowled tight lines and utilized the help from the surface wisely.

As we saw in the first T20I match b/w BAN-W and IND-W, the track at this venue is slow and the ball doesn’t come on the surface that easily. New ball bowlers will get some zip during the initial few overs at Shere Bangla National Stadium. Spinners too will find help here throughout. Batters will have to dig it out. Once they get used to the deck’s pace, they will be able to play their shots more freely.

Match Prediction

The Visitors are without many of their regular players on this tour. Despite that, IND-W looked like the far superior side in the first T20I. Harmanpreet Kaur-led team India has a decent bowling attack, but their batting needs to do a lot better in the remaining games, or the series will quickly slip away from their hands. Women in Blue have two very good bowlers for this pitch, and their batting has enough depth to nullify any early slip-ups. We expect them to continue to dominate BAN-W. We say India Women to win this match and make it 2-0.
