Indian Cricket Board extends contracts of Rahul Dravid and his co-staffs

Indian veteran cricketer Rahul Dravid renewed his contract as the head coach of the senior Indian Men’s Cricket Team after accepting the Indian apex council offer, the council confirmed on Wednesday, November 29.

"The Indian Cricket Board engaged in productive discussions with Rahul Dravid after the term of his contract ended following the recently concluded Men's World Cup ODI 2023 and unanimously agreed to further the tenure," the board said in a statement released on Wednesday (November 29).

Dravid had been designated as India’s chief coach in November 2021 for a two-year time span ending with the recently ending World Cup ODI where India lost their final game after a 10-game unbeaten streak. The exact time period of his new arrival has not been revealed by the Indian management, but it is assumed that the former Indian legend will guide the side until the upcoming World Cup T20 2024 which will be held in the Caribbean and the US.

"The last two years with Team India have been thoroughly memorable," Dravid was quoted as saying. "Together, we have witnessed the highs and lows, and throughout this journey, the support and camaraderie within the group have been phenomenal. I am genuinely proud of the culture we have set in the dressing room. It's a culture that stands resilient, whether in moments of triumph or adversity. The skills and talent that our team possesses are phenomenal, and what we've stressed is following the right process and sticking to our preparations, which has had a direct impact on the overall result," the ex-Indian batter added.

"Rahul Dravid's vision, professionalism, and unyielding efforts have been important pillars in Team India's success," Indian Cricket Board President Roger Binny said, welcoming Dravid's approval of the offer. "As Head Coach of the Indian Cricket Team, you are always under immense scrutiny and I extend appreciation to him not only for embracing the challenges but for thriving in them. The performances of the Indian Team are a testament to his strategic guidance.

"I am delighted that he accepted the offer to remain the Head Coach, and it speaks of the mutual respect and shared vision between him and the Indian Cricket Board. I have no doubt that under him, the team will continue its march to the pinnacle of success and set new benchmarks along the way."

Vikram Rathour (batting coach), Paras Mhambrey (bowling coach), and T Dilip (fielding coach) are the additional support staff associates who have acquired contract extensions alongside Dravid.
