Indian Cricket Board has announced Women's T20 League Auction and Player Registration dates
Indian Cricket Board announced the Women’s T20 League Auction and Player Registration date
Five teams will compete in the Indian Women's T20 League, which is set to run from March 3 through March 26, 2023. The date for the first-ever Indian Women’s T20 League auction registration is also announced, and the board has encouraged certain undisclosed reputable businesses to bid for the women's T20 league teams. All capped and uncapped Indian players must register online for the Women's T20 auction at or before 5 PM IST on January 26th. The statement came from the Indian Cricket Board, which is stated in a document titled "Guidance note for Indian Players" that is communicated with all Indian players.
The Women's Challenge T20, a two-team tournament that began with only one game in 2018, will be replaced by this event. The following year, it expanded to a three-team exhibition event and happened in 2020 and 2022.
According to a media outlet rumored to have accessed the document, the base price, or "reserve price," for the Indian capped players is set at ₹30 lakh, ₹40 lakh, and ₹50 lakh. In comparison, it is ₹20 lakh and ₹10 lakh for Indian uncapped players.
The Women's T20 League will take place in 2023, according to Sourav Ganguly, the then-president of the Indian Board of Cricket, who announced it in 2022. The Board chose March 2023 as the starting date or window period for the Indian Women’s T20 League in August last year. They also changed the women's cricket calendar, which typically runs from November to April, to accommodate it.
The Cricket Board of India requested bids for media rights from 2023 to 2027 for the planned Women's T20 league in December last year.
Many Men’s Indian T20 League teams, including the franchises of Rajasthan, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, and even Punjab, have shown interest in competing to field a squad in the Women's league.
