Indian T20 Auction 2023: Teams Remaining Purse, Marquee Players, and Live Updates

Indian T20 League Auction is going to occur on the 23rd and 24th of December 2022 in Kochi, Kerala. The auction for the 16th edition of the T20 League will be a tough call for many teams. However, with their (team) remaining budget, current team combinations, and remaining strengths, it will be an exciting auction.

You can watch the storming hammer event live on the official broadcasting network. No new team was added to this season like the previous one. A total of 10 Franchises have retained 163 players from their existing squad. This Auction will be conducted for 87 slots, of which 30 are reserved for foreign players. The total purse of franchises is ₹206.5 Crores (Highest purse - Hyderabad Team ₹42.25 Crores, Lowest Purse - Kolkata Team ₹7.05 Crores ).

Following are the remaining purses amount of all Indian T20 League teams:

  • Chennai -  ₹20.45
  • Delhi -  ₹19.45
  • Gujarat - ₹19.25
  • Kolkata -  ₹7.05
  • Lucknow -  ₹23.35
  • Mumbai -  ₹20.55
  • Punjab -  ₹32.20
  • Bangalore  -  ₹8.75
  • Rajasthan -  ₹13.2
  • Hyderabad -  ₹42.25

Players to Watch-out for:

These players will be the target of each team if they want to conquer the Indian League. Below are some players to watch out for in this two-day auction:

  • Ben Stokes: This superstar English all-rounder will be the most valuable player or asset for any team. Stokes will provide an extra seam bowling condition along with hard-hitting strength. Stokes was part of the Rajasthan Franchise in 2021, but he put out his name as his last team did not retain him.

  • Cameroon Green: Cameroon Green is an emerging all-rounder of the Australian team. People are comparing Green with the legacy of Shane Watson as he can also bat at open and provide some crucial overs in T20 cricket. Cameroon Green was one of the top performers against India in the last IND vs. AUS series, and then he opted by the team for the World Cup Campaign.

  • Sam Curran: Man of the Tournament in the World Cup 2022, Sam Curran will be eye candy for all teams. Under MSD’s Captaincy, he significantly improved his game and was the top performer and MVP of Chennai’s Franchise. This Left arm Medium fast bowler can swing the new ball in both directions, which is challenging to play in Sub-continental conditions.

  • Harry Brook: This young English Batsman had a successful test series against Pakistan, where he impressed everyone with his aggressive intent in the test format. Also, he scored a blazing 81* in just 35 balls. Without a doubt, IPL franchises would have paid attention to his performances and would be interested in having Brook wear their franchise's colours. So, if the IPL franchises spend big on the young man in the upcoming auction, it might not be shocking.

  • Dasun Shanaka: Shanaka might serve as a finisher for a team with a strike rate above 140 in the shortest format. Additionally, the consistent medium-pacer can pick up unexpected wickets for the team, making him the ideal X-factor component. Therefore, it may not be shocking if the clubs spend big on the young man in the next auction.

Along with these players, teams will look forward to buying Reece Topley, Joe Root, Adam Zampa, and Daryll Mitchel to get a variety in their teams as they have few slots and a purse amount to go for the costly ones.
