Indian T20 League 2023 Auction: Date And Time, Retained Players, Complete info

 

The world’s biggest T20 League auction is set to take place in Kochi, Kerala on the 23rd of December 2022. This year's auction can be watched on the official broadcasting network which is expected to begin at 06:00 PM IST. According to official sources, 405 players will go under the hammer in this year’s Indian T20 League. Initially, 369 players were going under the auction but after the request of the owner of the franchises, 36 players were also added. A total of 991 players were registered for this year’s auction, but only 405 are selected, and 87 will be picked by the teams on the auction day. 

For this year’s auction, out of the selected players, there are 273 Indians, 132 overseas and 4 players from the associate nations. Out of the players selected for bidding, there are 119 Capped players and 282 uncapped players in this auction. Out of the total of 87 slots of players, around 30 will be for overseas players and the remaining one will be for Indian players.

A total of 19 overseas players choose to be in a bracket of ₹2 Crore which is the highest base price. 11 players are on the auction list with a base price of ₹1.5 Crore. Manish Pandey and Mayank Agarwal are the only two Indians on the list of 20 players whose base prize is commencing from ₹1 Crore.

With 27 players, England has the highest number of players in this year’s auction followed by South Africa which has 22 players. Australia and West Indies have 21 and 20 players in the auction respectively. Allah Mohammad from AFG (Age 15) and Amit Mishra from IND (Age 40) are respectively the Youngest and Oldest players in this auction.

This year, teams won't be able to use the Right to Match card. By matching the top bidder's price in the auction, the card previously gave franchisees the chance to repurchase a player they were unable to keep before the auctions.

Every player has established a base price that they cannot be sold below. After that, each team will make a bid for them until every squad is filled.
