International T20 League

28th Match: ADKR vs SW

Preview

The 28th Match of the International T20 League will be played between ADKR and SW in Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, on Saturday, 4th February 2023, at 07:30 PM IST. ADKR is already ruled out of the league with terrible season figures (Played 9, Wins 0, Losses 8, NR 1, Points 1), but it is a golden opportunity for SW to make their place in the next stage.

The ADKR will compete for pride in their last game since the season is over. However, the Knight Riders have underperformed, as is evident. Their top scorer, Andre Russell, has 195 runs in 8 innings with a Strike Rate of 156. Russell was the highest scorer in the last game against MIE, scoring 42 of 22 balls, which the Knight Riders lost by 5 wickets.

Sadly, no additional hitters have come to the plate. Paul Stirling (129 runs in 5 innings at 110.25), followed by Brandon King (108 runs in 8 innings at 106.93), is the best batsman for ADKR after Russell. The club will again rely on Russell to save them since their batting performance has been dismal thus far.

Skipper Narine has led the bowling superbly, taking 6 wickets at a 6.96 economy rate. With his tight lines, he has been exceptional in this league. Akeal Hosein (6 wickets in 8 innings at 7.74) was also impressive this season. However, the Knight Riders need an excellent fast bowler. Thus, they may be tempted to reactivate Sri Lankan pacer Lahiru Kumara for this game (8 wickets in 5 innings, 9.38 economy).

With 7 points and a net run rate of -0.229, SW is ranked fourth in the points standings. They recently lost to the DV by 22 runs. The Warriors are in a strong position, but they only have two games remaining and need to increase their net run rate.

The team's top hitter this year has been opener Tom Kohler-Cadmore, who has scored 245 runs in 7 innings with a 168.96 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Rahmanullah Gurbaz hasn't had the greatest of seasons, but in the encounter against the ADKR last week, when he hit 56 off 39 balls, he seemed to be returning to form.

Joe Denly, the team's captain, has had a quiet season (149 runs in 7 innings at a strike rate of 112) and hopes to make a difference in the next two league games.

Afghan Bowler Naveen-ul-Haq, has been in excellent form with the Warriors this year, collecting 10 wickets in 8 innings at an economy of 8.12. Junaid Siddique has also performed well with the new ball (9 wickets in 8 innings, at an economy of 7.12). However, the absence of England pacer Chris Woakes for national obligations costs the Warriors. Mohammad Nabi and Noor Ahmad have managed the team's spin responsibilities, but they still required a middle-order spinner with experience who could take wickets.

Match: ADKR vs SW, 28th Match, International T20 League

Date: Saturday, 04 February 2023

Venue: Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi

Pitch & Weather Report

This season, Dubai Capitals achieved the highest score, with a score of 222-3. In this game, the side batting first should aim to set a goal of between 180–190 runs. Throughout the 40 overs, it stays batting-friendly and, once the ball becomes a bit soft, does provide some assistance to the spinners.

Four of the past six games played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium this year were victories for the chasing team. In this game, the side that wins the toss will likely elect to field first.

Today's match in Abu Dhabi will be in sunny, pleasant conditions. The temperature will be between 22℃ and 14℃ with a wind speed of 22 km/h in the southeast direction.

Match Prediction

This season, the ADKR have struggled as a team. Their top hitters haven't stepped up; their hitting especially lacks depth. For significant goals, the squad is overly dependent on Andre Russell. Even if SW's hitting hasn't been lighting up the field, they still have enough reliable hitters on their roster. Additionally, their quick bowlers are doing a fantastic job and will probably be a real challenge for the Knight Riders hitters. We fancy the SW to prevail in this match.
