IND vs AUS 1st Test: Jadeja's fifer and Ashwin's 3-wicket finished up Australia on 177 runs

IND vs AUS: On the first day of the Nagpur Test which majorly belonged to the host side team India. Rohit Sharma led team India, managed to pick up all 10 Australian wickets on the very first day of the test match and then the skipper of the side showcased his class with the bat in hand. The 35-year-old batter notched up his 15 Test fifty against an injury-stricken bowling attack, guiding his team to 77/1 at stumps.

Rohit was looking in great touch, but vice-captain KL Rahul looked a bit rusty at the other end. He took almost 5 overs to get off the mark. Though he backed his captain well, runs didn’t come to him easily. His struggle, of 21 runs in 71 balls, was finally ended by Aussie debutant Todd Murphy an over before the stumps.

By the end of the first day's play, the Indian team has scored 77 runs losing one wicket. Captain Rohit 56 and Ravichandran Ashwin remain at the crease without opening the account. Australia scored 177 runs in the first innings.

In this context, the Visitors are 100 runs ahead of India and team India has nine wickets in their bag. The 22-year-old right-arm off-break bowler Todd Murphy has taken the only wicket for Australia. He dismissed KL Rahul with a score of 20 runs.

Batting first after winning the toss, Australia got off to a poor start both David Warner and Usman Khawaja went cheaply. On the score of two runs, both the openers of the team returned to the pavilion. After this, Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne took over the team with an 82-run partnership, but Jadeja took two wickets in an over to put Australia on the back foot.  After this, the left-arm spinner dismissed Smith as well, who was looking in great touch with the bat.

The middle-order batters Peter Handscomb and Alex Carey also shared a half-century partnership, but Ashwin broke the pair. After this, he along with Jadeja ended Australia's innings for 177 runs. Jadeja ended his magical spell with 5-47 and completed his 11th test fifer. He was well supported by Ashwin who also grabbed 3 important wickets for the hosts. During this, Ashwin also completed his 450 wickets in Tests. Shami and Siraj got one wicket each. Only Axar Patel remained wicketless.

Labuschagne was the highest run scorer for Australia with 49 runs. Apart from them, only Steve Smith (37), Alex Carey (36) and Peter Handscomb (31) could touch double figures.
