The Hyderabad captain will miss the final league game of the tournament as the Kiwi will be flying back home for the birth of his child. In a Twitter post, the franchise wished Kane by saying, “Our skipper Kane Williamson is flying back to New Zealand, to usher in the latest addition to his family. Here's everyone at the #Riser camp wishing Kane Williamson and his wife a safe delivery and a lot of happiness”.
Kane Williamson had a terrible Indian T20 League season as the skipper scored only 216 runs from 13 matches this season. He couldn’t create the impact that he is known for and thus the team will not miss Williamson the batter in the next match.
The team is scheduled to host Punjab in their last match of the group stage. With both the teams aiming to qualify for the playoffs, both the teams will come hard at each other for sure. Thus, the team will miss their calm captain in the middle. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who captained the side before is favourite to lead the side along with Nicolas Pooran, who recently became the captain of the West Indies team in white ball cricket.
The team currently has 12 points from 13 games and they need a massive win against Punjab to qualify for the playoffs. Their chance also depends on how other teams perform. Bangalore and Delhi need to lose and only then their chances of qualifying will increase.
