Kohli can break Sachin Tendulkar's record in ODIs
Kohli is on the verge of achieving another huge milestone
Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli is in action in the 1st One Day International (ODI) series against Sri Lanka. Team India is batting first against Dasun Shanaka-led Sri Lanka in the 1st ODI of the three-match series at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. Kolhi ended his ODI century drought during India’s tour to Bangladesh after 1214 days. Now the run machine is eyeing another major record of another Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar in the ODI format of the game.
The 34-year-old Indian batter had overtaken the Australian legend, Ricky Ponting when he last scored a ton in the fifty-over format. Kohli is currently batting in the ’90s in the 1st ODI match against Sri Lanka and has set his standards high of achieving Tendulkar’s tremendous feat in ODIs. Cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar has the most number of tons (20) in One Day Internationals at home. The ex-Indian skipper has 19 in his pocket at the very moment. If Kohli gets another one in this match, which doesn’t seem much far, he will end up equalling Tendulkar’s record being an active cricketer. This will be a massive milestone in his cricketing career.
The Indian veteran Sachin Tendulkar in his glorious career smashed 20 ODI tons at home in 164 games. Whereas Kohli has drafted 19 centuries at home in 101 matches. The run machine has 12,471 runs to his name in ODI cricket. He needs just 180 runs more to imprint his name in the Top 5 list of all-time highest run-getters in ODIs. Kohli is behind Tendulkar, Kumar Sangakkara, Ricky Ponting, Sanath Jayasuriya, and Mahela Jayawardene and will be the only active cricketer to be in that elite list.
