Kuldeep Yadav returns for the final ODI against Bangladesh
Kuldeep Yadav returns to the ODI squad as India faces injury woes
Left Arm unorthodox spin bowler Kuldeep Yadav has been added to the Indian squad ahead of the third ODI against Bangladesh on Saturday, December 10. The decision came to a conclusion after three Indian cricketers including the skipper Rohit Sharma, Kuldeep Sen and Deepak Chahar were ruled out of the final game of the series due to injuries. KL Rahul, the vice-captain of the side will lead the Men in Blue in absence of regular skipper Rohit Sharma.
Kuldeep earlier made a comeback to the Indian side in a limited-overs setup against New Zealand but was not included in the team for a single match in both the ODI and T20I series. The 27-year-old spinner was supposed to get into the groove for the Test series against Bangladesh, but now it seems he will reach earlier and join the team for the third match.
Meanwhile, The Indian Cricket Board call on skipper Rohit's availability for the two-match Test series will be decided later.
“Rohit suffered a blow to his thumb in the second over while fielding in the 2nd ODI. The Indian Cricket Medical Team assessed him and he underwent scans at a local hospital in Dhaka. He has flown to Mumbai for specialist consultation and will miss the final ODI. A call on his availability for the upcoming Test series will be taken later,” Indian Cricket Board said.
Kuldeep Sen who was the debutant in the series opener in Mirpur has suffered a stress injury while Deepak Chahar is out for a hamstring strain yet again.
“Fast bowler Kuldeep Sen complained of stiffness in his back after the first ODI. The Indian Cricket medical team assessed him and he was advised to rest from the 2nd ODI. Kuldeep has been diagnosed with a stress injury and is ruled out of the series. Fellow fast bowler Deepak Chahar sustained a left hamstring strain during the 2nd ODI and is also ruled out of the series. Both Kuldeep and Deepak will now report to NCA for further management of their injuries,” the press release added.
Without taking the name of Chahar, Rohit expressed his discontentment about the role of NCA after recurring injuries to players after the 2nd ODI.
India after losing the ODI series will play their third match for their pride. They will try to end the series on a high by winning the third and final match and then concentrate on the Test Series.
