Dambulla Aura (DA) will play Jaffna Kings (JK) in the fourth match of the Lanka T20 League 2023 at the R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on Tuesday (July 1). Both teams opened their respective campaigns last week. While Perera and co secured a 21-run win over in the inaugural match of the tournament, the outcome of DA’s first game is yet to be declared. 

In their last match against CS, JK posted a decent total of 173 batting first. Towhid Hridoy (54) was the top scorer for the Kings. His calculated knock was a perfect display of controlled aggression, as he set a perfect launchpad for the likes of Dunith Wellalage and Thisara Perara. Late blitz from the latter ensured JK crossed the 170 run mark. CS in reply were bundled out for 152. Hardus Viljoen was the pick of the JK bowlers, as he ended the game with impressive figures of 3/31. Dilshan Madhushanka and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth provided good support from the other end and were successful in claiming two wickets apiece. The Kings have made an ideal start to their season and they will look to carry forward the winning momentum. 

When it comes to exceptional quality and team balance then nothing comes close to DA. In the batting department, Aura has a good mix of local talent and international prospects- Kusal Mendis, Kusal Perera, Dhananjaya De Silva, Alex Ross, Hayden Kerr and Matthew Wade to name a few. They are also not short of variety in their bowling prowess. Shahnawaz Dahani will lead the pace attack alongside Binura Fernando and Lungi Ngidi, whereas Praveen Jayawickrama will shoulder the spin bowling responsibilities.
