A last chance for glory ft. Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami

There’s no bigger name in Indian Women’s cricket than Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami. Both at 39 years of age are very likely to represent India at the World stage for the very last time and thus, this tournament is very, very special for India. In 2011, the entire nation batted for Sachin Tendulkar and the likes of Virat Kohli, Harbajan Singh and MS Dhoni later went on record to say how much they wanted to win the trophy for Sachin. Now, the time has come for our female cricketers and every Indian to back these two legends of Indian cricket and support them throughout.

Mithali Raj, the captain of the ship is in tremendous form. The team hasn’t done well in the recent series’ against New Zealand but they have done really well and many will agree with the fact that the scorecard didn’t really justify India’s efforts. Mithali has scored 235 runs in the last five matches against New Zealand and the team has scored 250 plus runs consistently. If the talented young Indian batters give a proper start, then Mithali can take advantage of it in the middle order and with that, India can pose a heavy total.

Coming to Jhulan Goswami, she has broken a lot of records and has set a lot of records like Mithali Raj. Just like Jimmy Anderson, she doesn’t play all the matches but the important ones. She took 5 wickets from 3 matches in the New Zealand series and has 245 wickets in the One Day Internationals. Team India can very much bank on her, like the fans always do and she will deliver, like she always does.

India will play their first match on March 6 against their fierce rival Pakistan at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui.
