Liverpool qualifies for UCL finals while Salah hopes the same for Real Madrid
Salah wants revenge against Real Madrid after Liverpool reaches UCL Finals
After a classic showdown and some great resistance from Villarreal, Liverpool finally defeated the club from Spain and qualified for their 3rd Champions League Finals in 5 seasons. Being one of the most consistent teams across Europe, Liverpool deserves the spot but there’s something else that’s going inside the head of their talisman Mohammed Salah. Despite winning the prestigious trophy in 2019, Salah couldn’t really forget or forgive Real Madrid till date. Sergio Ramos’ tackle injured the Egyptian and he was replaced in the finals and later on the Los Blancos won their 13th UCL.
The road was an easy one for Liverpool but Villarreal’s comeback in the second half gave the fans a new hope. The reds thrashed them 2-0 at Anfield but Boulaye Dia’s strike in the 3rd minute of the match inspired the team to do some damage. They did when Francis Coquelin made it 2-0 before half-time as Villarreal was playing some good football before Liverpool got all serious.
In the second half, Klopp and his boys thrashed Villarreal once again and won the match and the tie. Fabinho made it 2-1 while Luis Dias made it 2-2 in the 67th minute. Geronimo Rulli, the goalkeeper of Villarreal needs to take the blame as the keeper let slip two goals between his legs and that is not something you expect from a keeper. Sadio Mane later made it 3-2 for the club and Liverpool won the match pretty comfortably. However, if you are a football fan, you got to respect Villarreal’s performance and their commitment. UCL Semis are no joke and they came here by defeating clubs like Bayern Munich, Juventus and others.
In the post match, Mohammed Salah expressed his desire which created headlines. He wants to challenge Real Madrid and show the club what he could have done in 2018. “I want to play Madrid," Salah told BT Sport. "City is a really tough team; we've played against them a few times this season. If you ask me personally, I'd prefer Madrid”.
The Egyptian further added, “We lost in the final against them, so I want to play against them and hopefully win it from them as well”.
Real Madrid is currently 4-3 down against Manchester City but the good thing is that the match is at Santiago Bernabeu. Here, they can do whatever they want and at the end of the day, they change the complexation of the game and get the desired result. The fans will hope for the same miracle but City is a very tough opposition and it won’t be easy for Carlo Ancelotti and his boys. Now interestingly, they don’t want anything easy. Fortunately or unfortunately, that is their strength.
