Nashville held 2-2 against Inter Miami in the CONCACAF Champions Cup

Inter Miami faced the hosts Nashville SC in the first leg of the round of 16 of the 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup on Thursday (07th March 2024). The match which took place at Geodis Park ended in a draw with a score of 2-2 when Visitors conceded at the start of the match. Jacob Shaffelburg scored a goal for Nashville SC with a left-footed shot just after the 4th minute of the game.

After conceding, Inter Miami was determined to retaliate, however, the 1-0 lead for Nashville SC lasted until the end of the first half. In the second half, the Hosts managed to stay away. The 24 -24-year-old Canadian striker Shaffelburg added to Inter Miami's misery after scoring his second goal with a powerful right-footed shot in the 46th minute. Trailing by two goals, Inter Miami didn't want to just give up and the visitors were able to reduce the position through Lionel Messi after receiving a pass from Luis Suarez.

The Pink Army scored the second goal through Diego Gomez's action in the 59th minute however, the goal was disallowed for offside. Nashville SC almost added a goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, the referee disallowed the goal that Shaq Moore scored because it was offside. Former Barca striker Luis Suarez emerged as a hero when entering the final minutes of injury time he scored the equalizer to save his team from defeat. The duel between Nashville SC and Inter Miami ended in a 2-2 draw and the second leg will be played at Inter Miami headquarters on March 14.
