Four defeats in a row and multiple concerns – A perfect scenario for Mumbai to make a comeback and win their 6th Indian T20 League trophy. However, who will do the job for them? The bowling looks dead and their middle order is non-existent. The team allowed Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Trent Boult and Rahul Chahar leave but their substitutes have failed to impress at all. Punjab on the other hand is doing relatively well but Captain Mayank Agarwal needs to improve his captaincy skill. The changes he’s making are in a way affecting them. For example – Odean Smith didn’t prove himself as a bowler and to give him the last over was a very bad call. It’s true that he didn’t have a lot of choices but he should have kept someone better for the 20th over.

On the other hand, Mumbai has the most successful captain of the Indian T20 League. His captaincy skills are definitely not in question but his batting form surely is. He needs to be the shed and needs to lead by example. He failed to do so as other than Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan, no other batter is in form. Tilak Verma chipped in a couple of times but he needs to make a good use of his starts. When it comes to bowling, Bumrah and Tymal Mills are responsible for getting the job done. Murugan Ashwin started the season well but he is nowhere at his best. Thus, there are a lot of problems within the team and Mumbai looks really poor at the moment. Batting is their strength and they need to make it count.

Punjab looks good at the moment. With some luck by their side, the team can finish at a good position this season. Shikhar Dhawan is giving them the much needed start and Liam Livingstone is winning them games with both bat and bowl. The lower middle order however needs to click. It’s been awful to say the least but the team is not making any necessary changes. Talented young cricketers like Raj Bawa and Rishi Dhawan are warming the bench but they deserve to get more opportunities. Coming to bowling, Rahul Chahar has been absolutely fantastic. He along with Rabada is responsible for leading the attack and they did a decent job so far. The team has potential to make it big!
