Ind T20 League 2022

Match 68- CHE vs. RAJ

Preview

It’s a matter of pride for Chennai in the final match of the season for them while Rajasthan can afford a low margin defeat in the match to finish 2nd in the league table but why would anyone want that before the playoffs begin? The rumours have it once again that MS Dhoni might be walking down as the Chennai Captain and as a player for the last time in his career and thus, this match is going to be a very, very special one for all the cricket lovers in the country.

Bowlers returning back in form is a huge plus point for the 1st champions. Batters win matches and bowlers win tournaments is something we all have heard and for Rajasthan, this needs to be the reality. With the likes of Yuzvendra Chahal, Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna and Ravichandran Ashwin, Rajasthan has a very good bowling lineup which can easily choke any opponent. Yuzi Chahal, the Purple cap holder is on song this season and he will be aiming to help Rajasthan lift their second championship this season. Jos Buttler’s form might be a matter of concern for the team. Yashasvi Jaiswal is giving them a good start for sure but Buttler leads the team from the front and gives the perfect platform to Sanju Samson, Padikkal and others to take it forward. Shimron Hetmyer is set to return and replace Jimmy Neesham in the starting XI. The Caribbean will give a much needed boost in the middle order. Rest, Riyan Parag’s inconsistency should be a matter of discussion but ‘he’s just 20 years old’ narrative is too strong to tackle.

For Chennai, like said, it’s a matter of pride. The Yellow brigade will look forward to giving something back to the fans and what better way to do it than winning the final match of the season? Chennai lost their last match against Gujarat but Ruturaj Gaikwad looked in fine touch. Jagadeeshan, who has played some memorable knocks in the Tamil Nadu T20 League, played an important knock of 39 runs off 32 deliveries. If given a chance, the local boy has the pedigree to do better and eventually can help the team win some matches in the next season. Rest, all the batters should improve. Chennai needs to make a lot of changes in the next season to fight for the prestigious title. When it comes to bowlers, they have blown hot and cold this season. Mostly cold but the team can take few positives and can improve on other things. Overall, the team needs to work hard in order to beat Rajasthan in the final match of the season.

Pitch Report

It’s a great pitch to bat on and even 190 is not a safe target to defend. The Pacers will get the much needed bounce and the ball will come hard on the bat. Expect a cracker of a match if the batters show their potential in this match.

Match Prediction

Rajasthan will of course be the favourites to win the match and they should get the win. However, you can’t really keep Chennai out of the equation. They will look forward to finishing the season on a high note and thus, they can be a dangerous team to reckon with!

Top Fantasy Picks

Ruturaj Gaikwad looked in great touch in the last match. If Chennai needs to do well in this match, the Southpaw needs to show his class all over again. He can do the job for Chennai.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is in red hot form at the moment. After a very slow start to the season, the youngster has done well in recent matches and the team will once again look forward to do well in the season.

Mukesh Choudhary has been a revelation for Chennai. The bowler has done really well in the tournament and leads the team with the ball in his hand.

Yuzvendra Chahal has been absolutely fantastic in this tournament. He is showing everyone that Bangalore made a huge mistake by not retaining him and the current purple cap holder, Chahal will have a lot to prove as he is eyeing to inspire his team for the championship.

Risky Captaincy Choice

Matheesha Pathirana took two wickets in the last match and proved his mettle. If the youngster gets proper guidance, he can be a huge name in the game. You can take the risk of appointing him as the captain of your team.
