Nepal and Oman book their berths in the 2024 T20 World Series

Nepal and Oman won their respective semi finals at the Asia region qualifiers to seal their berths at the 2024 men’s T20 World Series.

While Oman trounced Bahrain by ten wickets, Nepal held their nerves against UAE to register a eight wicket victory.

Aqib Ilyas claimed four wickets, conceding 10 runs in the process, to help Oman restrict Bahrain to a lowly 106/9. The opening pair of Kashyap Prajapati and Pratik Athavale took their team over the line without fuss.

For Nepal, excellent spells from the spin duo of Kushal Malla and Sandeep Lanichhane restricted UAE to 134/9. Vriitya Aravind scored a half century, but found little to no support from the other end in the UAE innings. Nepal Opening batter Aasif Sheikh then smashed an unbeaten 63 to power his side to victory, and script history for his team.

With the addition of Nepal and UAE, the 2024 T20 World Cup which will be held across the West Indies and USA will now feature 18 teams. The vacant two spots will be finalised at the Africa qualifier, which will conclude at the end of the month.
