Nepal Cricket Board revokes Sandeep Lamichhane's Suspension

Nepal Cricket Board lifts the ban from the former Nepal Cricket Team Captain Sandeep Lamichhane after six months after his arrest. Board gives him a clean chit to play in Nepal's upcoming Cricket World Cup League 2 Tri-series against Scotland and Namibia.

Britant Khanal, General Manager of Nepal Cricket Board, told a media house that he (Sandeep Lamichhane) is allowed to play only with the condition that he would “Respect the limitations” set by the court granted him bail last month. So Lamichhane’s participation will depend on whether the court permits him or not. 

Lamichhane was arrested last year in September for the allegations of coercion after a warrant was issued against him in Kathmandu. The news went On-Air in the media on September 8 when he played for the Jamaica Franchise in the Caribbean T20 League. He was granted bail for a coequal amount of $15,300, but on the condition of not leaving the country until the final verdict. Lamichhane denied the allegation and was taken into custody by Kathmandu Police on the 6th of October, 2022. 

At the time, Prashant Vikram Malla, the acting secretary of the Nepal Cricket Board, stated the suspension would continue till the probe's conclusion. Lamichhane had promised to "completely assist in all phases of the inquiry and would wage a legal battle to establish my innocence," according to his statement.

The 22-Year-old spinner is by far the most well-known cricketer in Nepal and the only one to have participated in T20 tournaments throughout the globe, including the Indian T20 League, AUS T20 League, Bangladesh T20 League, Pakistan T20 League, and Winides T20 League. 

He is the second fastest in ODIs and the Third Fastest in T20Is to reach the mark of 50 Wickets. He last competed in an international cricket match in the T20I series against Kenya in August 2022. At the time of the arrest warrant, he was also the captain of Nepal, a post he relinquished after being suspended.
