Number one T20I batter SKY continues to dominate the batter's chart
Suryakumar Yadav stays on the top of the T20I batter's ranking with 908 rating points
The International Board of Cricket released the Weekly Ranking today (Wednesday). Team India's star batter Suryakumar Yadav continues to dominate his T20I number-one ranking. He continues to top the rankings for T20 batters with 908 points. With a 908 rating, Suryakumar Yadav has become the highest-rated player by Indian players in T20Is.
In the previous ranking, Surya had 890 rating points, but this time he has increased by 20 rating points overtaking Virat Kohli's 897 ratings. The 32-year-old batter scored 26 runs in the second match of the ongoing T20 series against New Zealand while handling the innings and securing victory for team India. So he has got the benefit of this inning in the rankings while playing an unbeaten knock. But he dropped 2 points from his career-best T20I ranking of 910 after SKY's first T20I knock of 47 runs against New Zealand.
On the other hand, if we talk about the all-time T20 batting rankings, the left-handed batter David Malan of England holds the record for being at the top of the chart. Malan achieved a rating of 915 points in Cape Town in 2020, Surya has now come second in this list and has 908 rating points in the all-time T20 batter's ranking.
Suryakumar Yadav scored the most runs in the T20 format in 2022 last year, SKY played 31 matches and scored 1164 runs with an average of 46.56 which included a staggering strike rate of 187.43. He became number one in the T20 rankings in the Men's T20 World Championship, scoring a total of 239 runs in 6 matches. Surya was named the International Board of Cricket Men's T20I Cricketer of the Year last month for this stellar performance. It is not only just Suryakumar Yadav, but players of the New Zealand cricket team have also made some huge gains in the recently released rankings.
Black Caps' opener, Finn Allen has jumped a total of eight places to 19th on the list for batters. His teammate and middle-order batter Daryl Mitchell too improved nine spots to 29th. The left-handed batting all-rounder Mitchell Santher, the NZ skipper has improved his rankings. The 30-year-old jumps up two places to 9th overall on the latest list for T20I bowlers and has also risen to the 23rd spot n the updated rankings for all-rounders.
With still a T20I match to play before BGT(Border Gavaskar Trophy), we might see some fireworks from Suryakumar Yadav's bat which can also boost his T20I ranking. India will face New Zealand in the 3rd and final match of the T20I series on Wednesday, 02nd February.
