Preview 

New Zealand’s second-string team is currently touring Bangladesh for a three-match ODI series before the World ODI Series 2023. The home side also rested a few star players. 

After the first ODI was washed away by rain which ended the match with no result, the Kiwis emerged as the winning side in the second game on Saturday. Now as things stand, New Zealand leads the series 1-0 and the third and final game is scheduled at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday, September 26. 

The third ODI will decide the fate of either side, as a win by the Blackcaps will result in their series victory and a win by the Bangla Tigers will end the series in a draw, hence saving them from humiliation. The crucial game brought in some changes in the squad with Najmul Hossain Shanto getting back to the captaincy role alongside Tamim Iqbal and Mustafizur Rahman putting on the jersey. Also, players like Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mushfiqur Rahim, Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam also joined the squad to get some game time before the ODI World Series which will be held in India in the following month.

On the other hand, Henry Nicholls scored 44 and 49 in both games respectively. He would also like to contribute his best to the concluding match. Sodhi recorded his career-best figures in the second ODI i.e. 6/39 in 10 overs and will be the key bowler for the side in the final game.

Match Prediction

This series is equally important for both sides as this is their last chance to play a series before the World ODI Series begins. The Black Caps will start as the favourites to win this match as far as we can guess from their performance in the second ODI match. Bangladesh will surely give a tough fight to stop the Kiwis from getting away with the series win but we fancy NZ to win this match based on their squad strength and past performances.
