Williamson's hundred and Wagner's 4-fer secured The Hosts a 1-run win over ENG

On the fifth and final day of the second test match played between New Zealand and England in Wellington where the Hosts Black Caps won the nail-biting contest by a 1 run to level the 2-match test series by 1-1. The crowd was on its feet and the excitement was at its peak in the second Test. Till the end, it was not decided whether England would win or New Zealand. But in the end, the Kiwi team was successful in registering a win in the second match. With this victory, the Black Caps created history as NZ became just the third nation to win a Test match after being enforced to follow on.

The former skipper of the side and centurion in the second test match Kane Williamson and the star with the ball Neil Wagner were instrumental in helping New Zealand win the second Test. Joe Root, who scored an unbeaten 153 in the first innings, was successful in batting brilliantly in the second innings as well. The former English skipper made it easy for England to win by sharing a 121-run partnership for the sixth wicket with captain Ben Stokes. Root scored 95 runs in the second innings and missed his well-made century by 5 runs.

At one time it seemed that the England team would easily win the second test. But Wagner got New Zealand back by dismissing Joe Root and Ben Stokes. The wicketkeeper batter Ben Foakes came to bat and he scored 35 off 57 balls. But Black Caps skipper Tim Southee got him out and put the Hosts in the driving seat. Stuart Broad and Jack Leach tried to snatch the match away from New Zealand. But Matt Henry took the wicket of broad who scored 11 runs off 9 balls.

In the final moments of the game, the veteran and most experienced player on the side James Anderson made New Zealand's heartbeat by hitting a four and reducing the runs margin ENG needed 2 runs to score to win the series by 2-0. But thanks to Wagner, who was bowling, gave his team a 1-run victory by dismissing Anderson behind the wicket on the leg side.

In the second match played in Wellington, England declared the first innings by scoring 435 runs for 8 wickets. New Zealand got piled on just 209 runs in their first innings. After which England gave a follow-on to the Hosts. The NZ team made a good start while playing the follow-on. Tom Latham and Devon Conway, who came to open the innings, added 149 runs for the first wicket.

While batting at number three, 32-year-old batter Kane Williamson played a brilliant inning of 132 runs courtesy of Tom Blundell who scored 90 runs while batting in the middle order. If we look at New Zealand's scorecard, Tom Latham, Devon Conway, Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell were successful in scoring half-centuries. In this way, the Kiwi team scored 483 runs in their second innings and gave a target of 258 runs to England.

Chasing the target of 258 runs for the win, the England team was able to score 256 runs in their second innings and NZ won the match by 1 run. Joe Root was the top scorer in the second innings for England scoring 95 runs. Apart from Root, Ben Foakes scored 35 while Ben Duckett and Ben Stokes scored 33-33 runs. While bowling well for New Zealand, Neil Wagner took the maximum of four wickets in England's second innings. Kane Williamson, who played an inning of 132 runs in this match, was given the Player of the Match award.
