Multan Sultans will square off against Islamabad United in the 5th match of the Pakistan T20 League 2024. Multan Cricket Stadium will host the game on Tuesday, February 20. Multan and Islamabad have both won their inaugural matches and are sitting in the top two positions of the league. 

MUL played their first match of the season against Karachi Kings where they were put to bat first. The Sultans started well but lost Rizwan quite soon. A thunderous partnership of 121 runs between Malan and Hendricks for the second wicket helped the side to post a defending total of 185 runs on the scorecard. The Multan bowlers also did a good job as they didn’t allow the Karachi batters to settle. Shoaib Malik did play a fine knock but eventually, every effort went in vain as they lost the game by a margin of 55 runs. 

ISL faced Lahore Qalandars in their previous encounter where the United won the toss and chose to bowl first. The Qalanders started well on the batting-friendly track. Sahibzada Farhan and Van Der Dussen scored half-centuries each to reach a challenging total of 195 runs on the scoreboard.  Islamabad, in the second half of the game, started off with a bang. Skipper Shadab Khan and Agha Salman smashed 74 and 64 runs respectively to take their side across the line with eight wickets to spare.
