Ramiz Raza's shocking statement on Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram
Former Pakistani Cricket Chief Ramiz Raza has made a shocking statement on Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram.
About the Justice Qayyum report on match-fixing, former Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ramiz Raja made a pretty inflammatory statement against the team's iconic former players, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis. As a result, Akram, who played a vital role in the report, was punished with a fine and demoted from captaincy. Following the publication of the report, Waqar Younis was also punished. However, Waqar served as the team's head coach for two distinct periods as both returned to Pakistan cricket in coaching capacities. However, Ramiz Raja said the pair would have been permanently barred if it had been up to him.
Ramiz said, "I think no one should have had the chance (of coming back to Pakistan cricket). If Wasim Akram's name is in there, and he was criticized for not cooperating, right? It was a borderline case. If I was the decision maker at the time, I would've banned them forever".
He said, "Whoever is contaminated, I've zero tolerance for it," when asked whether his position on the Pakistani trio Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir, and Mohammad Asif were also banned after spot-fixing allegations in 2010, hasn't changed.
Years after the accusations, Amir rejoined the Pakistani squad and competed for the team in many World Cups; however, under Ramiz Raja's leadership, the left-arm pacer was dropped from the team.
